Plaza Theater

Change is finally coming to the long-abandoned Plaza Theater on East Main Street in Patchogue. The Plaza showed its last movie more than 20 years ago and has since fallen into disrepair. The empty marquee, crumbling façade and boarded entrance are horrendous, and it has become a haven for drug use, vagrants and vandalism.

However, ownership of the Plaza Theater has since been transferred from its former owner to Brookhaven Town.

The demolition of the Plaza Theater has been a top priority of Councilman Mazzei’s since taking office in 2003. A lot of credit is given to the people from FOCUS East Patchogue for their determination to keep up the fight for so many years.   They can now celebrate this victory and look forward to continued revitalization of the East Main Street Corridor. With the title belonging to the Town of Brookhaven we are now one step closer to knocking down this blighted eyesore. Plaza Theater is slated to come down  August 30th at 10:00 am.
